The genesis of my company and the driving force behind my business venture, particularly in the design and construction sectors, traces back to a blend of personal inspiration and valuable experience. Being a natural leader, I held an unwavering aspiration to pioneer a venture that not only harmonizes with my passions but also leverages my expertise in the realms of design and construction.

Murray Lawrence – Principal/Senior Tech.

The story has roots in familial influence as well. My father’s decision to close our family-run business left an indelible mark on me. Although I was relatively young and less experienced at the time of his business closure, I harbored a strong desire to resurrect a similar enterprise when I reached a point of greater maturity and proficiency through post-secondary education.

Situated in both Calgary and Red Deer, Alberta, I founded my independent consulting venture back in 1989 and formalized its incorporation in 2014. This geographical duality positions me strategically to serve a broader spectrum of clients, reflecting my commitment to delivering exceptional services across multiple locations.

KEY MILESTONES

My professional journey has been marked by remarkable achievements, particularly during my contracts with prominent architectural firms. I’d like to give you some defining moments that have shaped my career.

My time at BKDI Architects was incredibly inspiring. I had the honor of leading and contributing to pivotal projects, such as the renowned Hotel Arts, and playing a key role in the monumental 42-story high-rise project, Arriva.

During my tenure at Riddell, Kurzaba Architects (RKA), I took great pride in contributing to creating the prestigious International House on the University of Calgary campus.

BCMP Architects offered me another exceptional opportunity to leave an indelible mark on projects that have significantly influenced urban landscapes. One particularly cherished highlight is my leadership role in the MRM Truck shop project for Shell. Additionally, I want to mention my leadership in the development and documentation of the Kimberley Conference and Athlete Training Centre, formerly the Paralympics Training and Conference Center. This endeavor allowed me to showcase my expertise while collaborating with a talented team.

Each of these experiences is a testament to my dedicated 34 years of growth within this industry. The cornerstone of my success has been the collaboration with exceptional individuals and the privilege of contributing to awe-inspiring projects that leave a lasting impact.

MY TEAM

While I primarily handle most tasks independently, I have strategically built a team to complement my efforts, primarily on a part-time basis. This team is a crucial asset in ensuring the seamless execution of projects.

Presently, I have two dedicated Architectural Technologists who contribute their expertise part-time. Their valuable insights enhance the quality and efficiency of our projects.

Furthermore, I have proficient professionals managing our Information Technology (IT) needs. This includes a SharePoint and BOX administrator, Cassandra L., who ensures our digital infrastructure is robust and optimized for smooth operations.

In the realm of accounting and bookkeeping, I rely on the expertise of Karen L., our dedicated project accountant. Her meticulous financial management ensures that our projects remain on track and financially sound.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is centered around providing comprehensive design, drafting, and construction services that cater to the specific needs of your clients. It includes creating detailed plans for new construction and renovation projects while serving diverse sectors such as commercial and residential, focusing on meeting the needs of individuals aged 50-65, small developers, not-for-profit organizations, registered architects, and second or third-time home buyers. We offer expertise, guidance, and management to ensure successful project outcomes that align with regulations and safety standards.
